Scott Roza, Chief Executive Officer
As Skytap’s Chief Executive Officer, Scott is responsible for overall strategy and operational execution. Prior to joining Skytap, Scott was vice president of worldwide OEM and channel sales for HP/Opsware’s Business Service Automation business unit. In October 2007 HP acquired Opsware for $1.6B, where Scott served in the same role. Prior to Opsware Scott was vice president of marketing and business development for iConclude, where he was instrumental in positioning iConclude as the leader in the emerging Run Book Automation space. In this role he also established iConclude’s business relationship with Opsware, the firm that ultimately acquired iConclude for $65 million in early 2007. Prior to iConclude, Scott served as vice president, sales and marketing, for Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC), a $475M public data storage company, where he more than doubled ADIC’s branded business. Scott has also worked as a consultant for McKinsey and Co., and served 5 years in the United States Navy as a Submarine Officer.
Mr. Roza holds a B.S. degree in Marine Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland, an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School.
Steve Brodie, Chief Product and Marketing Officer
Steve is Skytap’s Chief Product and Marketing Officer with responsibility for Skytap’s product strategy and marketing. Steve joined Skytap from Hewlett Packard / Mercury Interactive where he was Sr. Director of products for the Mercury Performance Testing product line, which generated $400M in annual revenue. Steve joined Mercury in 2003 and initially led the Lifecycle Performance Diagnostics product line which grew from $2M to over $60M in revenues during his tenure. Prior to Mercury, Steve joined IBM via the acquisition of Rational Software where he held a number of senior general management positions and was responsible for a Rational portfolio that generated annual revenue of $300M. Prior to Rational, Steve was a principal in Vigor, an Atlanta startup acquired by Rational Software, and prior to Vigor he consulted for IBM Global Services and Accenture. Steve received a B.S. degree in Computer & Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
John Janakiraman, Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer
As Vice President of Engineering and CTO, Dr. G. (John) Janakiraman leads Skytap’s engineering development and architecture teams. John joined Skytap from HP Labs in Palo Alto, CA where he was the research manager for the Data Center Architecture team. At HP Labs, he and his team developed innovative server virtualization, server architecture, and energy-efficient data center technologies for the next generation of data centers. Most of these innovations were successfully implemented in shipping HP products including XenOprofile and network virtualization enhancements to Xen, energy-efficient adaptive data center cooling in HP Dynamic Smart Cooling, and the modular ccNUMA system architecture based on tightly-coupled memory and point-to-point links within the HP 9000 Superdome server. Dr. Janakiraman has been granted several patents and is a frequent author.
John holds a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India where he was conferred the BITS Gold Medal. He also holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from UCLA.
Matt Perrine, Vice President of Sales and Business Development
Matt is Skytap’s Vice President of Sales and Business Development where he is responsible for all customer and partner facing field operations. Matt has 20 years of experience in building high performance enterprise sales teams with a particular focus on emerging technologies in IT operations and storage management. Most recently, Matt was the executive vice president of worldwide sales at Asempra, an early stage start-up based in the Bay Area. Prior to Asempra Matt served as EMC’s first sales vice president for its Open Software Division, which included EMC platform software in addition to the portfolios of Legato and Documentum. Matt has also held sales leadership positions at Legato and CA and he started his professional career at Xerox in the Pacific Northwest. He holds a BS in business administration from the University of Washington.
Ian Knox, Director of Product Management
As Director of Product Management, Ian is responsible for all aspects of Skytap’s product management, market positioning, demand generation and go-to-market strategy. Ian joined Skytap from Microsoft Corporation where he was group product manager for Microsoft Visual Studio. In this role, Ian led the product management team responsible for building a new $400M enterprise tools business in the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) category. Prior to Microsoft, Ian was a Principal Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers where for 7 years he worked on global software delivery projects for Fortune 500 clients.
Ian holds a B.Sc. honors degree in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham and an M.B.A from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
