A Resolution to Keep: Trimming Your SDLC Waste in 2015

Hats off to Parasoft’s Mark Lambert and our own Jason English for their recent webinar, “New Year’s Resolution: Trim Your Waste to Accelerate SDLC Velocity.” Holiday-themed online content can often be found for a dime a dozen and sadly, the cuteness of a clever title often exceeds the quality of the media itself.

But Jason and Mark put together an awesome presentation that compares the importance of trimming our software development waste to the need to trim our waist after the all-to-common gorging that many tend to participate in to celebrate the end of another year.

I do find it fascinating that the need to trim our “waist” comes from an overabundance of food, and the need to trim our “waste” comes from the complete opposite—environment scarcity and workplace family fighting over access to precious morsels of development and test environment access.

There were also great questions following the webinar, including:

  • How do you make the decision when building or copying Skytap environments whether to use a virtual service asset?
  • How can I integrate the configuration of service virtualization into my DevOps process?
  • Can I manage environments in the same way as by using a cloud infrastructure service like AWS?

If one of your resolutions was to trim the waste around your SDLC, do yourself a favor and check out this great webinar, now available on-demand, to watch at your convenience. And if you’re going to try and stick with that elusive workout routine this year, why not stream it from the treadmill?
