Seattle Virtualization Company illumita Attracts Key Industry Talent

The Seattle-based company adds six people to its team as it readies for a significant product launch in Q1 2008

SEATTLE – December 14, 2007 – illumita, an emerging company in the rapidly growing field of virtualization technology, today announced the addition of six key people to the company’s strategic management and advisory team. illumita, which recently announced its series A funding of $6 million in August 2007, is currently in stealth mode. The new team members bring years of experience in the computer sciences, marketing and sales fields.

The people filling new management positions are Chief Technology Officer, John Janakiraman, Vice President of Sales, Matt Perrine and Director of Product Marketing, Ian Knox. illumita also welcomed Paul Gauthier, co-founder and former chief technology officer of Inktomi and Mark Zbikowski, technical adviser and investor to Blue Dot and lecturer at the University of Washington, to its technology advisory board and Frank Artale, former president and CEO of Consera Software, to its business advisory board.

These six new hires will help the company accelerate its growth as it works to achieve leadership in virtualization technology. Their diverse backgrounds will add value to the company as it looks to carve out significant market share in a high-tech segment that many believe will be the next great wave in technology.

A recent report from analyst firm IDC predicts server virtualization will become a $20 billion industry by 2010. The report also indicates $17 billion of that money will be spent on the virtualization solutions and services segment that illumita is targeting, on top of the $3.1 billion for virtualization software licenses. Virtualization technology will have a wide impact on IT infrastructures in the near future.

“Our new executive and advisory members have extensive experience and proven success in their respective fields,” said illumita President Steve Brodie. “We are proud to welcome them to the illumita team and are excited about the contributions they will make. The new members of our team will play an integral role in the launch of our innovative virtualization technology.”

John Janakiraman, chief technology officer, joins illumita from HP Labs in Palo Alto, Calif. where he was the research manager for the Data Center Architecture team. Ian Knox, director of product marketing, joins illumita from Microsoft Corporation where he was group product manager for Microsoft Visual Studio. Matt Perrine, vice president of sales, brings more than 20 years of experience in driving and managing enterprise sales teams. Prior to joining illumita, he was the executive vice president of worldwide sales at Asempra, an early stage start-up based in the Bay Area.

As illumita gears up for its product launch, the company is forecasting rapid growth and will be looking for new hires in business development, technical sales, telesales, support and IT positions.
