In his Forbes article, 3 Keys to Startup Success, Aaron Schwartz made an interesting observation about working at a startup. He noted that in addition to technical skill, there are some necessary traits a person will need to succeed in this type of environment: “I think that there are three: hustle, follow-through and curiosity.” Those would certainly be assets at Skytap. We have a fun, innovative culture where finding new ways to expand and improve our product is an everyday part of our work. Here’s what some of our team members have to say about their experiences with Skytap and startups in general:
“The great thing about working at startups is the opportunity to really make a difference to the product and the company. If you have good ideas and are willing and able to make them happen, there really isn’t a better place you can be.” – Pete Holland, Software Architect – Networking.
“I think the best part of working for Skytap is the cooperative atmosphere. We’re all working together to make our product the best it can be, and there simply aren’t enough people to develop departmental clashes or bureaucratic chains of command. And because each of us occupies a unique position in the company, we have a lot of flexibility. The result is a near perfect balance between self-directed exploration and collaborative work.” – Dylan Holmes, Technical Writer
“One of the things I really like about Skytap is the amazing tight-knit team feel. Skytap is a living, breathing organism, and the main reason that this thing is able to grow and thrive is because every last person here really believes in the product, and puts forth that extra effort to make sure everything is done to the best of our ability. This is a dynamic work environment in which I am continually learning and applying new concepts and processes, and am encouraged to think outside the box to ensure customer success.” – Dan Glasser, Support Engineer
