Self-Service Environments Over Infrastructure

Environments are the heart of Skytap and the building blocks of application development and delivery. Reduce the IT backlog and unlock your dev teams with instant, self-service access to production-ready environments.

Migrate Without Rework, Compute at your Fingertips

Each Skytap environment is a software-defined datacenter (SDDC) supporting a wide range of configurations, including Linux and Windows running on x86, AIX, IBM i, and Linux running on IBM Power. By fully replicating a traditional application’s on-premises configuration, environments make it possible for applications to be migrated without refactoring, rearchitecting, or replatforming.

Environment Isolation, Not Isolated Communications

By default, every Skytap environment is isolated from others, allowing unlimited clones to exist with zero configuration drift. Features like Inter-Configuration Network Routing (ICNR), VPN, direct connect, public IP addresses, public internet access, and published services allow IP connectivity into and out of Skytap environments.

True Self-Service for Software-Defined Networks

Cloud networking is made simple with Skytap’s self-service approach. New VMs receive automatic IP addresses when added to an environment, VPNs are connected in three clicks, machine hostnames and IP addresses are easily adjusted, and networks are quickly added or reconfigured.

Network Visualization, Don’t Get Caught Off Guard

Even the most complex environments with multiple networks and many servers are documented using Skytap’s network topology view. How an application communicates with all its dependencies no longer remains tribal knowledge.

Multicloud Is Easy With Skytap’s Private Network Connection

Private Network Connection (PNC) creates a dedicated network from your on-premises datacenter to any Skytap region, enabling faster speeds and lower latency than internet based connections. You can also use IPSEC site-to-site VPN functionality within Skytap. With Skytap’s NAT capabilities, even identical clones of an environment can be connected to the same PNC or VPN without network collisions or configuration drift.

Inter-Configuration Network Routing (ICNR)

ICNR allows for isolated environments to communicate with each other and enables common tools and servers be used by any environment. With Skytap’s NAT capabilities, even multiple clones of a downstream environment can connect to the same centralized environment without network address collisions.
