Cloud Environments that

Software-Defined Networking

Applications require no changes to be able to run inside Skytap Cloud even if they require layer 2 networking, specific IP addresses, or specific MAC addresses. Skytap Cloud environments match their on-premises version so closely that the applications do not even know they moved.

Environment Isolation

By default, every Skytap Cloud environment is isolated from the others. This isolation allows multiple clones of the same environment to exist with zero configuration drift. When enabled by environment owners, features like Inter-Configuration Network Routing (ICNR), VPN, direct connect, public IP addresses, public Internet access, and published services allow IP connectivity into and out of Skytap Cloud environments.

VPN

Hybrid cloud is achieved with ease using Skytap Cloud’s IPSEC site-to-site VPN functionality. Administrators set up VPN access once and allow privileged users to attach environments to it via the self-service interface. With Skytap Cloud’s NAT capabilities, even identical clones of an environment can be connected to the same VPN without network collisions or configuration drift.

Network Visualization

Even the most complex environments with multiple networks and many servers are documented using Skytap Cloud’s network topology view. How an application communicates with all its dependencies no longer remains tribal knowledge.

Self-Service

Cloud networking is made simple with Skytap Cloud’s self-service approach. New VMs receive automatic IP addresses when added to an environment, VPNs are connected in three clicks, machine hostnames and IP addresses are easily adjusted, and networks are quickly added or reconfigured. Building and maintaining production-like enterprise networks is made easy with point-and-click interfaces.

Inter-Configuration Network Routing (ICNR)

By default, all environments inside Skytap Cloud are completely isolated. ICNR allows for isolated environments to communicate with each other and lets centralized environments containing common tools and servers be utilized by any environment needing them. Because of Skytap Cloud’s NAT capabilities, even multiple clones of a downstream environment can connect to the same centralized environment without network address collisions.
