Skytap Hires New CFO as Company Experiences Accelerated Revenue and Customer Growth

Seattle, Wash. – June 9, 2022 Skytap, the industry-leading service to run traditional IBM Power and x86 workloads natively in the cloud, announced that experienced financial leader and tech veteran Barney Silver has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer to help guide its sustained growth. Skytap’s growth continues to accelerate as enterprises look to migrate business-critical IBM i, AIX and Linux on Power workloads to the cloud without the risk and complexity of refactoring or replatforming. Migrating these workloads helps customers extend application usage and value through access to cloud native services such as advanced analytics, AI & machine learning, and agile application development. As CFO, Silver will play a critical role in helping the company build on its momentum in revenue and customer growth.

“As digital transformation continues to accelerate, more and more enterprises look to the cloud to increase scalability, ensure business continuity and unlock additional value for business-critical IBM Power workloads,” said Brad Schick, CEO at Skytap. “The ability to run traditional ‘cloud stubborn’ IBM i, AIX and Linux on Power applications in Skytap on Azure or IBM Cloud without rewriting or refactoring is an industry first. Barney will be instrumental in helping Skytap grow to meet increasing demand.” Silver was formerly the Vice President of Finance and Operations for BitTitan, a Seattle area SaaS company, where he helped lead the company to a successful exit at the end of 2021.

Skytap’s business has accelerated through 2022 and Silver will help the company continue that expansion. Customers using Skytap to migrate IBM Power to Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud have grown dramatically in 2022. Skytap is now in eight Azure regions worldwide with two more planned for 2022 and seven IBM regions. Skytap was recently named to the Microsoft Global Independent Software Vendor (GISV) Program and was certified by SAP for Cloud and Infrastructure Operations in late 2021.
