Skytap Cloud has been designed from the ground up to be easy to use, with an intuitive interface that guides the user through the process of managing a virtual environment.
That said, Skytap Cloud has an array of specialized features, as well as some unique concepts that should be learned to take full advantage of the platform. As part of our self-service philosophy, we provide a full set of documentation to assist users in navigating Skytap Cloud. This Help Documentation series will show you the different ways you can access and leverage this documentation to answer any questions you may have.
Using the Help Button
Every page in Skytap Cloud has a help button, located in the upper-right:
Clicking this button will take you to a help page relevant to the page you’re on. For instance, if you’re on the main Projects page (as in the image above), clicking the help link will take you to this document:
The help button is contextual for each and every page. If you click the help button when creating a new project, it will take you to the section of the above document that covers that topic.
Browsing the Documentation
In addition to the help button, you can navigate to Skytap Documentation at any time by going to https://cloud.skytap.com/docs.
On the left-hand side of any Documentation page is a navigation toolbar, with links to each section of the documentation:
Clicking any of the links on this bar will take you to related documentation. For instance, “Getting Started” contains guides for first-time users and those looking for a general overview, while “Managing Skytap Cloud” contains information on managing resources and other administrative tasks. Each page contains a brief description of the documentation within, so take the opportunity to look around and see what’s available.
Searching for Answers
Finally, there’s a search bar located in the upper right of the Skytap Documentation page:
If you’re looking for info on a specific feature or problem, you can search the entire documentation set for key terms. In addition to the general documentation, this will also search the Skytap Documentation, a collection of targeted how-tos and troubleshooting articles.
