Today, I was in just one of those places. Waterloo, Wisconsin–home of Skytap Cloud customer Trek Bicycles. Founded in 1976, at a time when it was believed that bicycle manufacturing had moved out of the U.S. for good–in an old red barn, with $100,000–Trek Bicycles was born. Trek has now risen to become one of the biggest bicycle manufacturers in world. Their mission: Build the Best Bikes in the World. And based on the Trek Fuel EX 8 they let us take for a ride on the single track, mountain biking trails near their headquarters, they certainly do.
Trek chose Skytap Cloud to accelerate the development and testing of their Ascend point-of-sale software line that plays a critical role in growing their business. Trek also uses Skytap Cloud for rapid web application development using Microsoft SharePoint and incorporating Microsoft’s new SQL Server 2012.
Sharing a ride down the trail of innovation … it just doesn’t get much better than that.
