Increasing Enterprise Demand for Cloud-Based Development and Test Environments Fuels Record Growth

Seattle, WA – November 13, 2014Skytap Inc., the leading provider of on-demand Environments as a Service, today announced it is on track to double its revenue this year. This follows record growth in the number of bookings and size of deals, which are up significantly in comparison to last year. Skytap’s customer base has expanded to include more than 275 enterprise and mid-market customers. To date, customers have launched more than 2.7 million environments. The company has also doubled in size in the last year, increasing headcount from 53 to 105 employees.

Skytap’s dedication to its customers and partners has landed the company high rankings on a bevy of key industry lists including: Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 List where it ranked 105th with a growth rate of 1,141 percent; The 2014 SD Times’ Top 100 List of cloud computing software development influencers and innovators alongside Google, OpenStack, and VMWare; and Talkin’ Cloud’s 100 top cloud service providers.

Skytap attributes its rapid growth to enterprises becoming strategically ready to adopt cloud to more rapidly build, test, and release higher quality software. Skytap enables enterprises to improve the agility of their dev/test teams and immediately overcome today’s principal software development constraint – a lack of complete dev/test infrastructure that can be quickly spun up or down based on demand. Gartner forecasts that the application development market will surpass $9.78 billion[1] by the end of this year, which will continue to present a tremendous market opportunity for Skytap heading into 2015.

“We are seeing rapidly increasing demand for public cloud services within the enterprise, in particular for development and QA environments,” said Thor Culverhouse, CEO of Skytap. “We anticipate our growth will continue to steadily climb in the coming year as we aggressively expand our partner ecosystems and empower enterprises in their journey to reach new levels of innovation and differentiation with the cloud.”

Also driving Skytap’s strong performance is the company’s ongoing commitment to meeting the evolving needs of enterprise customers. Skytap most recently introduced a continuous delivery solution, which automates the provisioning of complex enterprise application environments built with IBM’s UrbanCode Deploy. In March, it announced the addition of Skytap on AWS, which provides an intuitive interface for users allowing enterprise dev/test teams to spin up environments on parity with their production deployment. Additionally, the company has expanded globally to support on-demand deployment of IT environments across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region with the introduction of its data center in Singapore.

Skytap continues to broaden its network of partners, and introduce joint go-to-market programs that enable a diverse range of partners to maximize shared business opportunities for cloud services. The company introduced its Skytap TapIn Partner Program last January and has forged a growing base of strategic partnerships with companies such as Parasoft, Orasi Software, Sky I. T. Group, Axis Technology, Crosslake Technologies, Emergys, Patriot IT, PPS Infotech, Quality Kiosk, and tap|QA.
