SEATTLE, Wash. – July 1, 2013 – Skytap Inc., the leading provider of self-service cloud automation solutions, today announced that Thor Culverhouse has been appointed CEO. Thor previously served as President and CEO of Stratavia, a leading provider of data center automation software solutions, which was acquired by HP in August 2010. Thor replaces outgoing CEO, Scott Roza, who led Skytap through five years of consecutive growth, while expanding the company’s customer roster to over 250 enterprises. Scott will continue to serve on Skytap’s board of directors.
“Skytap has a tremendous market opportunity in enterprise cloud computing and its recent milestones demonstrate that the company has the right combination of technology and talent to accelerate its growth,” said Thor Culverhouse. “The company’s vision for empowering development and test teams through intuitive cloud services directly addresses some of today’s biggest challenges in building and deploying new software. I look forward to working with the Skytap team to build upon the company’s track record of success and drive greater adoption of its hybrid cloud solution.”
As CEO of Stratavia, Thor successfully transformed the company from an early stage managed services business to a license software business focused on data center automation and private cloud deployments. After the company’s acquisition by HP, Thor ran the Global Accounts Sales Force for HP Software where he led a team of 200 sales professionals across the company’s largest software accounts. Prior to Skytap, Thor founded willbeHired, a social recruitment platform. Thor has also served in leadership roles at companies including IBM, Informix, and Tektronix.
“Skytap is already a leader in helping enterprises embrace and manage cloud services,” said Matt McIlwain, managing director at Madrona Venture Group. “The seamless transition from Scott’s outstanding leadership to date to Thor’s passion for the future of enterprise cloud will help Skytap and its customers realize their full potential.”
