Skytap CTO to Present at OpenStack Summit in Vancouver

SEATTLE, Wash. – May 12, 2015Skytap, Inc., the leading provider of on-demand Environments as a Service (EaaS), today announced its participation at the upcoming OpenStack Summit held in Vancouver, BC, Canada from May 18-22, 2015. Brad Schick, Skytap’s CTO and VP of Engineering, will discuss how enterprises can start leveraging OpenStack-based public and private clouds to accelerate application development and delivery.

Moving Enterprise Apps to OpenStack-based Clouds

When: Thurs., May 21, at 4:10-4:50 p.m.

Who: Skytap’s CTO and VP of Engineer Brad Schick

Where: Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Pl, Vancouver, BC, Canada – Room 109

What: Complex multi-tier enterprise applications typically have dependencies on underlying operating systems, hardware configurations, and network topologies. The boundary between one application or service and another is often unclear. These traits make many enterprise applications difficult to move entirely to a public cloud. Even today, it’s not uncommon for those who manage these applications to be unfamiliar with cloud concepts and the options available to both development and test teams. In this session, enterprise IT architects and developers will gain insights into why the evolution of enterprise applications will lead to hybrid applications that opportunistically take advantage of cloud-based services.

As Chief Technology Officer, Brad Schick leads Skytap’s overall architecture, technical direction, IP, and OpenStack strategy. Brad has shared his passion for hands-on problem solving and programming by serving an instructor at the University of Washington, and was recently recognized with the Startup Technology Star award by Puget Sound Business Journal.
