Darth Vader, Can’t-Miss Sessions, and a Very Big Announcement: The Skytap Guide to Training 2016

There is a ton going on next week at the Training 2016 Conference & Expo; here’s our guide to some of what we’re really looking forward to, and where you can Skytap throughout the event!

Darth Vader Helmet Giveaway
There’s no point in burying this (many of you probably came here only to find out what Darth Vader has to do with Skytap or this conference) but we are SO excited to announce that we’ll be giving away a Darth Vader replica helmet signed by the actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy—David Prowse! We’re even including a photo of Mr. Prowse signing it himself!

Make sure to stop by Skytap booth #616 to find out how you can win this ridiculously cool prize!

A Big Announcement We’re Having Trouble Keeping a Secret
There’s been a big announcement coming for weeks that we’ve done all we can to keep under wraps, and the good news is that on Monday, February 15th, we’ll reveal the news at the show! And even if you’re not attending Training 2016, there will be an official press release and other content being released that day to keep you in the loop—so visit Skytap.com, or look for the announcement on Twitter and LinkedIn!

The Sessions We Can’t Wait to Attend
Even with Skytap attending this show in full force, there really are more awesome sounding sessions at Training 2016 than we can attend in person, but below are some talks where you will absolutely find us. And for any of you that will also be in the room, we’d love to chat afterward about what you thought. Reach out to us on social media, or stop by our booth and let’s compare notes!

Management’s Real ROI: Capitalizing e/mLearning Investments
Ajay Pangarkar, Workforce Revolutionary, Author, CentralKnowledge Inc.
Monday, February 15, 2016, 8-9 AM
This one gets Monday started with a bang, and we’ll even be recording a podcast with Ajay after his session! We’ll be diving even deeper into his ideas for how to show senior management that training can be much more than a line expense or cost center, and how training can generate real revenue for your business.

Future Forum: Emerging Technologies & Mindsets
Monday, February 15, 2016, 2-4 PM
We were pretty sold on attending this one when we read that this panel believes that, “the role of learning & development professionals needs to change from subject matter experts to curators of content and architects of better virtual learning ecologies that support searching for and surfacing the right learning content for the learner at the right time.” Wow.

As we at Skytap collaborate with our customers to help them address the challenges around scaling training globally and enabling innovative options like self-paced training, it’s panels like these that can offer real insight into how the training landscape is evolving and how we can all be prepared for the changes that are coming.

Ready to Use Activities for Virtual Training
Tuesday, February 16, 2016, 8-9 AM
Cindy Huggett, Principal Consultant, Cindy Huggett Consulting, LLC
This is another awesome one. Cindy helps attendees “successfully transfer interactive and engaging activities from your in-person classes to the virtual classroom”—something that should be a goal for anyone looking to modernize their training offerings without sacrificing engagement. We’ll also be interviewing Cindy one-on-one and can’t wait to learn more about how she helps training departments continue to create memorable experiences for their students.

One of the truly awesome qualities of the training community is the amount of collaboration and knowledge sharing that goes on, and at Skytap, we love participating in those types of discussions. So whether it’s grabbing a cup of coffee, or stopping by our Training 2016 booth, or even just starting a conversation on social media—let’s all continue to make being part of this industry so rewarding to ourselves and our respective customers!

We hope to see you in Orlando!
