2015 was an outstanding year that was filled with exciting releases and expansions, additions to our team, new content, and sponsorships of groups working tirelessly to make the world a better place.
We went through the last year of our blog to round up some of our proudest moments of 2015, and we encourage you to come back often to see how we’re making 2016 even better!
New Leadership
Jill Domanico, VP of Talent
It’s no secret that recruiting here in Seattle is a challenge for companies of all sizes, and to help Skytap attract—and retain—the top talent in this city, Skytap added Jill Domanico to our leadership team. As our VP of Talent, Jill is developing and nurturing employee engagement, retention, culture, connection and communication and her efforts have been greatly appreciated company-wide!
In just one year’s time, Jill has helped make Skytap an even more awesome place to work; check out our current openings and see if we have an exciting opportunity for you in 2016!
David Frost, VP of Customer Success
2015 also brought the arrival of David Frost to Skytap, who joined us as our VP of Customer Success. I had the chance to interview David earlier this year to learn more about how he and his new team will help our customers get the most out of Skytap and achieve greater success in their DevOps initiatives.
Paul Farrall, VP of Operations
Last, but not least, we added Paul Farrall as our new VP of Operations. Paul came to Skytap with an awesome story of his own DevOps journey, he’s the president of the Seattle chapter of the Society for Information Management, and he’s already become one of our more popular public speakers at a number of events. Learn more about Paul here, and look out for future opportunities to attend Paul’s sessions in the coming year.
EMEA Expansion
Our 2015 hiring blitz resulted in adding another floor to our Seattle HQ, and opening a brand new office in London! As we’ve added new datacenters around the globe, and as the adoption of DevOps increases worldwide, it was time to expand Skytap’s presence into the EMEA region. Chris Griggs and Rick Cronin joined Skytap to open and run this office, and to help Europe “continue to be at the forefront in adopting huge technology shifts in the industry today.”
The Skytap Mobile App
2015 also saw the launch of the Skytap Admin mobile app for both iOS and Android. Our mobile app allows for administrators to provision, suspend, and copy environments, and admins are also given a dashboard for quota and resource allocation management. Learn more in this interview with Brian White, Skytap VP of Products.
New Content
Along with a steady stream of company updates to the Skytap blog, we also kicked off two new content projects in 2015: The DevHops Podcast, and a new technical series, “Scaling Modern Software Delivery.” Check them both out!
New sponsorships
Skytap chose two amazing groups to sponsor in 2015, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue to help support their efforts.
Ada Developers Academy
The Ada Developers Academy is a tuition-free, “intensive software developer training school for women” where graduates are placed in an internship with one of Seattle’s innovative tech companies. More than 30 Seattle companies are currently sponsoring Ada, we’re happy to be one of them, and our own Jill Domanico was recently added to Ada’s board!
Peace One Day
Skytap is also proud to sponsor Peace One Day. Actor and filmmaker Jeremy Gilley started Peace One Day to “build peace one day at a time,” and in 2001, “member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on September 21st.” Skytap joins a list of some the world’s largest corporations who have signed up to help this noble cause, and you can learn here how you can help, too!
This list by no means covers everything from 2015 that we’re proud of, there were contributions to the open-source community by our awesome engineering team, taking home the “Innovation All-Star” award from the Puget Sound Business Journal, and so much more.
Thank you and happy new year to everyone who made 2015 so great!
